Birthday – part 2

Marc Chagall is one of my favorite artists of all time.  His work is so brilliant and unique. The colors are visually stunning and he tends toward the fantastic in his subjects, mixed in with the daily routines of life.  I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the ceiling mural of the Paris opera house in person in 2003, and as a music lover, the symbolism is absolutely fantastic.

So this painting is one of my favs – thanks to Amy, a friend who posted it yesterday on Facebook.  It’s called “Birthday” and it happens to be mine today.  Chagall was very much in love with his wife, and just celebrated life in general, so this painting must have been such a sweet gift to her.

I’m trying to think of the last time a guy leaped over backwards to kiss me… hm, oh yeah, crap. Let’s not think about him. Moving on…

ps. the second pic is from the opera house – I’ve posted it before.

  1. Those are beautiful!

I’ve tried leaping over backwards to kiss a girl. She didn’t seem to appreciate the effort :-p
