Mary Wollstonecraft is often cited, being the author of A Vindication of the Rights of Women, in 1792, which was largely a response to A Vindication of the Rights of Men, which was largely a response to A Vindication of the Rights of Apes. In the Women version, she proclaimed that women had equal rights as men which was not debunked until 1918 in the US and 1928 in the UK. ( we shouldn’t have to VOTE. you should just KNOW what we want! duh!)
I did like her work and thought she would be fun on a girls night out, but what really intrigues me is her love life. She seemed to fall head over heels for the wrong and usually married dude over and over, something i totally cannot fathom. And of course she gave birth to a writer-daughter which I hope to do someday (soon would be good) and promptly died at the ripe old age of 38 (like i said, soon would be good).
Her husband also published a book about her “lifestyle” after her death and it came to my attention in college. It was absolutely scandalous back in the day and lost her posthumous adoration and respect. But if it was these days, she’d have her own youtube channel and would definitely have gotten canned from two and a half men.
